What's Really Important
Sometimes in life things happen, either to you or to someone you care about, and they make you really take a step back and see what matters to you. It's so easy to get caught up in the material things of this world, like money or buying new things. We tend to forget about the people we love and why we love them, instead we just get irritated at them or worse take them for granted. As I'm growing up, I'm seeing people around me going through hard times more and more. I'm sure that people were going through the same things when I was little, I was just too busy playing to notice. Anyway, one of the hygienists at work has a husband who's dying of cancer. He's on hospice and basically said that he wants to live through Father's Day and his son's graduation. Well Father's Day was yesterday, and his son's graduation is tonight. Angie's asked anyone who wants to come say goodbye to do so this week. Then there is Susie who just found out that her husband has been cheating on her. She kicked him out and is dealing with the pain and devastation of that. I look at all these situations (and I'm sure that there are more) and I can't believe how lucky I am. I know my life isn't perfect, and I've gone through some hard times that I'm sure won't be the last. But at least I have both of my parents alive and well and still in love with each other. I have a boyfriend who loves me more then anything who I can always count on. My best friend, Erika, will always be here for me to cry to or laugh about retarded things with. I have a sister who's becoming more and more of a friend to me who I can count on. There are countless others in my life who love me and who I love, and I'm not worried about them leaving me. Sometimes it really doesn't seem that important if Tiffany is being lazy, or if Michael is always running late, or if Mom is being cranky. At least right now I'm just thankful that they're in my life for me to get irritated at! ;) I definitely am a very blessed person. So thanks to all of you who love me so much and make my life beautiful.
